This is an Okinawa jumper (men's Okinawa jacket, Okinawa tour jacket, Okinawa souvenir jacket, military jacket) from Toyo Enterprises' sukajan brand "Tailor Toyo". This product is a reproduction model that reproduces the jumper that is believed to have been worn by CRASH RESCUE (a unit engaged in firefighting and rescue operations within the U.S. military air base) stationed at the U.S. military base in Naha, Okinawa in the late 1950s. This is a reproduction model by Tailor Toyo that is based on a vintage Okinawan jacket and reproduces the historical details of the time. While recreating the classic military style, it has been customized into a sophisticated, stylish and fashionable design for street wear. The silhouette has been reconstructed into a classic boxy silhouette (boxy fit style) with just the right amount of room in the body and a shorter length, making it stylish to wear.
A thin, light outerwear with no padding, it can be worn lightly from early spring to early fall, and can be worn throughout the year. The material is 100% cotton lightweight cotton twill fabric. It is densely woven, and the surface of the fabric has a vintage feel with elegant wrinkles and puckering. It is a thin fabric that is smooth to the touch, and has a rugged look typical of military materials, but is also supple and comfortable to wear. The body lining and sleeve lining are made of smooth acetate satin fabric. This fabric has good sleeve openings to reduce friction with inner wear. Additionally, this product has been subjected to a one-wash process. As a result, it has a texture that has just the right amount of old, vintage, and calm atmosphere, creating a jacket that gives a classic impression. Another advantage is that the fabric shrinks after one wash, so there is less shrinkage after washing and the size remains stable.
The front is zip-up, and the slider uses an original Toyo Enterprises puller with the "TYE" stamp. The pattern is expressed with embroidery. The embroidery is a reproduction of the old-fashioned hand embroidery technique, giving it a vintage feel. CRASH RESCUE is a unit that is fully equipped with special fire protection clothing (CRASH TURNOUT) and engages in firefighting and rescue operations, regardless of the danger, in the event of a fire accident involving an aircraft loaded with jet fuel. It is always deployed at US military air bases. NAHA AIR BASE is a huge US military base (362.3 ha / the size of 77 Tokyo Domes) that existed in present-day Koroku, Naha City from after World War II until the 1970s. It was returned to Japan in 12 installments between 1972 and 1986, and currently 70% to 80% of it, including the runway function, is used as Naha Airport and Naha Military Port (NAHA MILITARY PORT). (U.S. military jurisdiction), and is operated as a Self-Defense Force garrison, and the remaining 20% to 30% (area that was primarily used as rental housing for U.S. military soldiers) has become a new small town while retaining the remnants of those days.
The fire truck designed in the hot rod style (a comical representation of rushing to the scene of a fire) placed in the center of the embroidery on the back is probably an O-11A American LaFrance, and the shape of the collar and pockets suggest that the original vintage jacket is from the late 1950s. This is a fire truck manufactured by LaFrance. It was introduced to the U.S. Air Force from 1952 and was used until the 1970s. *This product has been processed to give it a unique texture to recreate a vintage feel. Therefore, please note that there may be some skipping or thread breakage in the embroidery.
*The embroidery on this product uses old-fashioned embroidery techniques to recreate the vintage feel.
