The M80 is a dynamic microphone that has the performance of a condenser microphone. It boasts unidirectionality and wide dynamic range and frequency characteristics. The body is made of rubber laminate to suppress handling noise, and the diaphragm's tone is open and wide, so you can expect a sound with a strong presence without being buried in the mix. The M80's biggest features are a newly designed low mass voice coil, an ultra-thin mylar diaphragm, and a custom output transformer manufactured by AMI/TAB-Funkenwerk. This newly designed diaphragm can convert into electrical signals with high efficiency without changing the ``timbre'' that was lost with conventional ``heavy'' diaphragms and voice coils, and the AMI/TAB-Funkenwerk output transformer produces a sound with the unique warmth and presence of good old analog audio. The proximity effect in the low range is well controlled, making it an excellent microphone for recording not only vocals but also drums and bass. *The inner diameter of the screw holder of the microphone holder is 5/8 inch.
